We had to cut this moment from the show because my advisers thought it was too risque. Luckily someone caught a snap of it during rehearsal.

Risque? Since when did thaetre shy away from the risque? Especially Moliere?!
The advice I got was that "in the period" a woman would not allow such a blatant sexual gesture from a man; that there was no gradation of sexual activity the way there is now (the idea that "kisses are trivial, you can have oral sex and still be a virgin, etc.") and that the equivalent "risque" gesture would have been more like the man taking the woman's hand and pressing it to his chest.
